What is Window Security film?
Window security film acts as an invisible shield protecting your glass windows and doors against smash and grab burglary and other forms of impact.
Glass windows and doors are the most vulnerable part of your home or office. Upon impact ordinary glass shatters leaving an entrance for intruders. In contrast, when security film is installed intruders cannot readily penetrate the glass. Usually when intruders realize that glass is fitted with security film they become discouraged and quickly flee the scene.
Why Window Security film?
Windows are the most vulnerable part of your home or office. According to Crime Reduction Canada, a third of all break-ins are through a window. The longer it takes a burglar to break-in the more likely it is that he will be caught. Window security film acts as an invisible shield protecting your windows. When an intruder attempts to smash your window with a rock or another burglar tool and realizes that he can't break-in chances are he will leave.

Company Profile
Security Technologies was founded in 1993 as the North American distributor of PROFILON® window security films. PROFILON® is a leader in security films and was originally developed in Europe to protect individuals against shards of flying glass caused by terrorist bombings. PROFILON® was the first security film acknowledged by Underwriters Laboratories as burglary resistive under their classification 972/ UL/c S332 and PROFILON® ER1 was the first 4 ply security film developed and tested successfully to the ER1 blast mitigation standard in Europe.
In addition to distributing PROFILON® products, Security Technologies carries Glass Protect a line of cost-effective burglary resistive security films developed to protect windows from smash and grab attacks.

For most homeowners, we recommend Glass Protect 8 mil security film. Glass Protect 8 mil is our cost-effective, impact resistant security film; used to protect windows against smash & grab burglaries.
In addition, we offer custom burglar bars & grilles, custom decorative door inserts, and other innovative security solutions to address your individual security needs.
Installing security film requires knowledge and practice along with appropriate cutting and installing tools. Our products are sold including installation. Installation is a critical factor impacting the success of the final result, not only from a visual standpoint but also in terms of proper security.
To assist you in budgeting for a professional installation of security film we have found that a typical suburban home (approximately 2500 sq ft) costs between $1,200 and $1,500.

For most commercial properties we recommend Glass Protect 16 mil security film. Glass Protect 16 mil is an impact resistant, extremely durable security film used to protect windows against smash and grab burglary. However, if your insurer requires UL/ULC certified security films then we advise you take a look at one of our PROFILON® products.

For Government
PROFILON® security films are the preferred films of many large institutional facilities such as the UNHCR in Geneva Switzerland and the European Central Bank, as well as Canadian, German, Swiss, Dutch and Danish embassies. In addition, PROFILON® security films are used by U.S. military facilities, residences in Europe and U.S. army traffic command centres worldwide.

Applications of PROFILON®
Civil Disobedience
PROFILON® was invented in the Netherlands and sold extensively in Germany as well as Britain as protection against skin-heads and neo Nazis who regularly attacked police. PROFILON® was installed on all "guest workers" buildings in Germany to protect the occupants from fire bombing. PROFILON® is able to absorb shock preventing Molotov cocktails and other arson attacks from penetrating through glass and setting fire to buildings.
Terrorist Bombing
PROFILON® was originally developed for fragment retention in terrorist bombings. Throughout the IRA attacks and the Bader-Meinhoff era in Germany, PROFILON® was the only laminated film on the market effective in protecting individuals against shards of flying glass caused by terrorist bombings.
PROFILON® security films have advanced significantly over the years. Today, PROFILON® ER1- developed to meet European ER1 blast resistance standards - is the most durable film on the market, capable of withstanding extreme shockwaves from minimal standoff distances.
Smash & Grab Burglary
PROFILON® AX A1 and PROFILON® ER1 are both acknowledged by UL/ULC as well as European authorities as burglary resistive window protection for glass that is at a minimum 1/8th of an inch (3mm) thick.
